ABUJA – As the Nigerian army steps up the offensive to root out Boko Haram terrorists from north east Nigeria, the military operations seem to be yielding positive results following the surrender of some of the group’s terrorists.
About 17 suspected Boko Haram male fighters have surrendered to troops of the one-two-two task force battalion in Borno State.
The director of army information, Colonel Sani Usman, in a statement explained that the fighters who came along with 16 women and 44 children are undergoing further investigation and screening.
Usman said troops had continued with the clearance and rescue operations, while others were maintaining blocking positions around the dreaded Sambisa forest axis where many of the abducted Chibok girls are thoughts to be held by the terrorist.
