Gov. swears in 17 LG chairmen in Abia

Ikpeazu urged them to perform their duties with diligence and honesty, as well as initiate programmes that would foster peace in Abia.

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia on Tuesday swore in 17 local government chairmen in Umuahia.

The governor said during the swearing-in ceremony in Umuahia that the chairmen should see their new position as an opportunity to serve the people.
Ikpeazu urged them to perform their duties with diligence and honesty, as well as initiate programmes that would foster peace in Abia.

He also cautioned them against building political structures that could affect the unity of the state.
According to him, all local government chairmen are expected to attract investors to their various councils to achieve human and infrastructure development.
The governor added that his administration was performance-driven and would not condone any form of laxity to duty from the newly sworn in officials.
The new chairmen are Christopher OsonduIsuikwuato, Ikechukwu Onuoha;Ukwa West, Uzoma Azumba; Ukwa East,Okezie Ezeigbo; Umuahia North, Randy Ukawoke; Umuahia South, Amah Abraham; Arochukwu.
Others are Sam Atulegwu; Aba North, Chukwudi Dike; Aba South, Okechukwu Dike; Bende, Chris Utoh; Umunneochi,E.A. Awa; Ikwuano, Bid Nwosu; Isiala Ngwa North, Ogadinma Alvan; Isiala Ngwa South.
Ugochukwu Allen-Nwachukwu; Osisioma,Chinyere Onuoha; Ugwunagbo, Chidiebere Ihenyirimmadu; Obingwa, Samson Nagha; Ohafia.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the governor also swore in a permanent secretary and members of Abia Polytechnic governing board.
The Permanent Secretary is Mr Princely Alighili, while the Chairman of the governing board is Chief Chuku Wachuku
