A Romulus woman has died unexpectedly while awaiting trial in federal court for a case involving extortion, according to a Detroit News report.
Jessica Tackett, 25, was alleged to have been involved in a scheme to extort
nearly $3 million from a retired computer software mogul, according to the
report, by threatening to tell police about a threesome involving her, the
businessman and her teenage cousin. Prosecutors say her father, Terry Tackett,
headed up the years' long scheme and that her mother, Kimberly Tackett, was
involved, according to the Detroit News. All three were charged in the scheme.
The manner and cause of Jessica Tackett's death has not been identified yet,
according to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office spokesman Ryan Bridges.
