Despite covering basically every magazine on Earth—no, like, really—Rihanna had never coveredVanity Fair until now. Thankfully, the magazine made up for lost time with a gorgeous, Cuba-set photo shoot and an interview that makes you want to be Rihanna’s best friend more than ever.
In May,
Rihanna was spotted in Cuba, though no one knew what, exactly, she was there
for. Turns out, it was for her cover shoot, for which she brought back her
firey, “Loud”-era
hair. Between her hair, sequin romper, and
matching car, this cover was worth the wait.
In the
introduction to the article, author Lisa Robinson writes, “She’s even more
beautiful in person than she is in her photos.” Um, IDK how that is physically
possible, but keep that in mind while gazing at the gorgeous spread. QUEEN OF
EVERYTHING.
In one shot in
particular, she relaxes—totally naked—on a bed. Between the Kim Kardashian
shootfor Love Magazine and this, it seems celebrities are way
more trusting of hotel blankets than I am. Despite the clothes-free shot, Rih
reveals that after her #ICONIC
CFDA Awards dress, she decided to
tone it down a little.
“’I wanted to wear something that looked like it was
floating on me,’ she recalls. ’But after that, I thought, O.K., we can’t do
this again for a while. No nipples, no sexy s–t, or it’s going to be like a
gimmick. That night [at the C.F.D.A. awards] was like a last hurrah; I decided
to take a little break from that and wear clothes.'”
Well, considering how well she wears ’em, I
don’t blame her. If I could pull off pale pink, I’d wear it all the time, too.
