NELSONVILLE — Emergency service personnel had to extricate a Coolville woman
from her vehicle Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle accident in order to get
her ready for transport via medical helicopter for treatment.Law enforcement and firefighters responded to the east exit of the Nelsonville bypass at 8:41 a.m. after a Ford Mustang, driven by Miranda Holsinger, 18, allegedly pulled out in front of a truck driven by Emileigh Whitmore, 19, of Murray City. Whitmore had only minor visible injuries and declined treatment at the scene, according to police.
Nelsonville Fire Chief Harry Barber and Nelsonville Police Chief Jason Wallace said the Mustang was turning left from the east exit of the bypass to head toward Route 691 when the truck, coming from town, broadsided the car.
Holsinger was extricated from the Mustang by firefighters, stabilized by Athens County Emergency Medical Services and then flown by MedFlight for additional treatment. She was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus where she is listed in stable condition.
The roadway around the accident was closed for around an hour.
No citations have been issued as of yet.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and York Twp. Volunteer Fire Department also assisted with the scene.
