In 2015, there are about 1,793 women serving in the state legislature, where
they hold 24.3 percent of the 7,383 seats. In the state senate, women
hold 22.3 percent of the 1,972 seats and in the state house, women hold 25
percent of the 5,411 seats. Women are also underrepresented in other areas of
US government. They make up 19.4 percent of the US Congress, and other women
constitute less than one percent of the 535 seats in the US Congress.
As of 2012, only 90 nations surpass the US in the percentage
of women in the national legislature.
In
light of these numbers, it is important to focus on issues that will help in fostering
a larger conversation and information dissemination
About
the unique and essential role that women play in determining government policy,
and finding ways to encourage more participation in government, politics and
economy.. Through Future media and the internet … we are asking women state
legislators and leaders in the private and public sectors to follow the advice,
and help to promote and encourage the participations of others women folks, “to
reach back and lift others as they climb and to encourage young women across
the country.
